Brando USB MicroSD card reader is about the same size as a MicroSD card

brando-microsdSD Card and multi-format card readers are all the rage in netbooks these days. But if you’re a fan of tiny computers, you probably have a soft spot in your heart for tiny peripherals. And in the world of storage media, it doesn’t get much smaller than MicroSD cards. And when it comes to USB MicroSD card readers, the Brando MicroSD(HC) Card Reader is probably the tiniest I’ve seen.

It measures just 14mm x 21mm x 6mm. That’s 0.55″  x 0.83″ x 0.24″. In other words, this little adapter is small than a quarter and sticks out of your USB port just barely far enough to accommodate a MicroSD card. It weighs 2 grams, or less than three quarters of an ounce.

The Brando USB MicroSD(HC) Card reader costs $10 and comes in black or white.

Brando makes so many wonderful toys.

As most netbooks seem to include an SDHC slot, I would much rather use a microSD to SD adaptor instead of taking up a (sometimes out of only two total!) USB port.

I think this one is smaller right???

It appears to be around two times longer (though thinner)

I agree. But I still keep a USB microSD card reader around in the computer bag just in case I need to transfer stuff to a computer without a built-in card reader.

This is the smallest one so far. But the price is way too high! Dealextreme sells one that is only a centimeter longer for 1$. Though I guess that knock off versions of this new one will crop up for around 1$ within a few months.
