Asus Eee PC 1008HA hacked with touchscreen (kind of) – Video

1008ha-tabloAsus is launching a couple of exciting new netbooks this year including the Asus Eee PC 1008HA “Seashell” which is super thin and light, and the Asus Eee PC T91 which features a touchscreen. But what if you want the best of both worlds? The folks at UMPC Fever have posted a video that shows how an Eee PC 1008HA with a touchscreen would work.

No, they didn’t actually take the netbook apart and replace the display with a touchscreen (although I suspect we’ll begin seeing hackers do that soon enough). Instead, they installed a SISO Tablo device which basically creates a virtual touchscreen through a sensor that rests at the top of the display and a special pen that you can use to interact with the screen. It’s not quite as cool as an integrated solution like a real touchscreen. But it gets the job done.

You can check out a video of the SISO Tablo and Eee PC 1008HA after the break.
