Asus Eee PC 1002HAE unboxed, played with – Video

While Asus is busy eliminating netbook models in countries like the UK and France, the company keeps pumping out new members of the Eee PC family in other parts of the world. The Eee PC 1002HAE recently went on sale in Japan, and Portable Monkey has posted a few photos and a short hands-on video of a red version. You can check out the video after the break.

In a nutshell, the Eee PC 1002HAE is a lot like the Eee PC 1002HA which I reviewed a few months ago. But it has a lighter aluminum case and a slightly faster 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU (The Eee PC 1002HA had a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor).

The new model also comes in a couple of new colors, including red, gray, and blue. I have to say, I’m not a huge fan of the color red, but this netbook does look pretty slick in that color.

Yea its getting pretty ridiculous, why they didn't just replace the 1002HA with this model is anyone's guess. Stupid, yes.

I am somewhat excited about this model though. I really liked my 1002HA when I had it and this seems somewhat better with the chicklet keyboard and N280. Hopefully they bring this to the U.S. and just have it be the 1002HA.

That's one slick little number. I'm not a fan of colored computers (outside of the usual suspects), but that red sure is pretty.

I really like that this one has the ports on the back of the machine. I know it's stupid, but for me, that's reason enough to consider this little guy.
