The Booktop M1022 is one of Gigabyte’s more unusual netbooks. This little guy has a bit of an identity crisis and can’t decide if he’s a desktop or a notebook. At first glance, it’s a pretty standard netbook with a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, and all the usual goodies. But when you tilt the Booktop on its side and toss it into a docking station you can use this netbook as if it were a desktop. You just need to supply your own keyborad and monitor.
Of course you can do exactly the same thing with any netbook or laptop that has a VGA output and a few USB ports for a mouse and keyboard. So I’m not entirely sure why you’d need a docking station.
But if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a Gigabyte Booktop M1022, and you happen to live in Taiwan, it looks like you can pick one up today. Netbook News.de reports that the laptop is now on sale in Taiwan for the equivalent of about $549 US.
