Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix RC released
The folks at Canonical are expected to release Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope next week. This is the first version of the popular Linux distribution to come with an official Netbook Remix version (previously you had to download and install the Remix package yourself). Ubuntu Netbook Remix basically has everything you’d find in the standard Ubuntu distribution, plus a custom program launcher designed for small screens, a utility to make sure most apps run in fullscreen mode, and optimizations for the Intel Atom CPU.
You can download the release candidate of Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix now. Just select the UNR USB image.
CNet UK checks out the Asus Eee PC T91 – Video
The Asus Eee PC T91 convertible tablet style netbook is the first Eee PC to feature a touchscreen display. It’s due out in a few weeks, but the folks at CNet UK’s Crave got some hands-on time with a pre-release unit.

Compete decided to put together a chart showing what web sites people visit after conducting searches for netbook-related terms on major search engines. And Liliputing made the list of the top 10 sites. Other sites include CNet, Engadget, Amazon, Dell, and HP.
Verizon to offer subsidized HP Mini 1000 and other netbooks (via Engadget)
From the department of poorly kept secrets comes a little more evidence that Verizon will soon be offering subsidized HP Mini 1000 netbooks to customers that sign up for long term 3G wireless data plans.
