Doesn't seem like the roadmap is accurate. April 17th has passed, and still no ubuntu.

Why not just reduce the bezel width to 0.4" (as in the ThinkPad)? Then you would have room to insert an 11.5" screen in a netbook the size of the Eee 1000HE. Voila -- an 11" netbook!

I'm very torn on this issue.

I currently own an older Macbook and a MSI Wind 10 inch netbook. I love the macbook, but it's just not practical to use when you're out and about (in a train or on a bus) and the battery life is less than stellar (plus there's no 3G options). The Wind on the other hand is light and has better battery life (with a 9 cell battery) but the screen resolution is too limiting to really be useful.

For me an 11 incher sounds like the perfect compromise. You could have a laptop about the size of an A4 sheet of paper and with a useful HD screen resolution that would still be able to be around 3 lbs and with good battery life. Add built-in 3G and I'd be all over it (hopefully with some carrier subsidies to sweeten the deal) :)

Sounds great but at what point do these stop being netbooks and become small notebooks? Dell has a nice lineup and although I have no problem with these models I think I'd rather buy a Inspiron 13 for about the same price.
