Asus Eee PC T91 convertible tablet available for pre-order (kind of)

Online retailer AllAsus is taking preorders for the upcoming Eee PC T91 convertible touchscreen tablet. The T91 has an 8.9 inch resistive touchscreen display, a 1.33GHz  Intel Atom Z520 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a solid state disk. It runs Windows XP  with a custom touchscreen interface designed by Asus. And it’s not available yet.

In fact, official word from Asus is that the T91 is “coming soon.” But the company hasn’t announced a shipping date or provided any special information to AllAsus. Rather, AllAsus is taking publicly available information about the Eee PC T91 including the pre-release specifications and rumored release date and posting them on its web site. The price and system specs are subject to change.

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t place a pre-order. AllAsus is an authorized Asus dealer, and the store will likely be have some of these computers in stock soon. But there’s no guarantee that you’ll get a T91 delivered to your door faster by placing a pre-order with AllAsus than by waiting for the netbook to show up for order from other retailers like Amazon, J&R, Newegg, or ZipZoomFly.
