The Asus Eee PC 1004DN may not have started shipping yet. But Asus has begun uploading drivers, software, and support documents for its first Eee PC model with an optical disc drive and fingerprint scanner.

You can currently download the latest version of the BIOS, drivers for most of the computer’s hardware, and user manuals in English or Chinese. There are also a few software applications including the new Eee Splendid utility which lets you adjust the computer’s contrast, color saturation, brightness, and other display settings. The drivers for the fingerprint scanner and a Windows utility to use the biometric security scanner are also available for download.

And before you ask, yes EeePC Splendid does work on other Eee PC models. I downloaded it and gave it a try on an Eee PC 1000H and it seems to work just fine. It’s not really that exciting though. It just offers a few presets for adjusting your LCD or video display settings. You can check out a screenshot after the break.
