You may have noticed that netbook screens tend to come in standard sizes with standard display resolutions. That’s because there are a handful of display panel makers that actually supply most computer makers with the screens that find their way into netbooks. Eee PC Italia put together a good list of existing screen sizes and resolutions for netbooks (as well as a few larger mini-notebooks).
Here are the results in a nutshell, but make sure to head on over to Eee PC Italia if you want more information about the exact dimensions of each screen size and which netbook models use which screens:
- 7 inch - 800 x 480 pixels
- 8.9 inch – 1024 x 600 pixels
- 10.1 inch – 1024 x 576 pixels or 1366 x 768 pixels
- 10.2 inch – 1024 x 600 pixels
- 11.6 inch – 1366 x 768 pixels
- 12.1 inch – 1280 x 800 pixels
I could swear I’ve also seen some computer makers claim to have 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel screens but I’m not sure I’ve seen one with my own eyes yet.
