So is the extended-life battery worth it? The one I was looking at buying looks different than the picture above. Does anyone have experience with ones that look like this one:

http://www.replacementpower.com/store/main.aspx...

I love my new Mini 1000 with the standard flat battery. I did not see it pointed out yet but the 6 cell sized battery will pose another problem.

The screen on the Mini already does not open far enough back. The large battery option ,as placed, will make the issue much worse.

I think the problem lies in the initial decision to design it as a 4-cell unit and thereby be able to present it as small and light as possible with reference to its competition.

Since long battery life is most important with portable things, it would have been better to integrate the 6-cell battery into the initial product like Asus (in the 1000 series) and Samsung did, rather than stick it on as an afterthought.

Can't you see that they INTENTIONALLY designed it this way, so the keyboard would be on a slant?

What they, and many computer users don't understand is that keyboards are supposed to slant DOWN 6 degrees towards the screen for ergonomic reasons.

That makes this both ugly and bad for your hands.

Chunky is not doubling the thickness, chunk would be adding a 1/4 inch, not a full inch. The phrase you were looking for was 'too stupid to be imagined' as in 'HP Mini 2140 6 cell battery is 'too stupid to be imagined but powerful'.

I have the same 6-cell in my 2133, the fit is just fine, there are no gaps, it doesn't wriggle. It's sorta like it's meant to go there. ;)

There is some quality design. I think even the Chinese "will fit" batteries will do a better job than this. Does anyone in marketing/administration look at this stuff before they put their name on it???
