HP Mini 1000 extended battery now available for order

  • Email

hp-mini-6-cell-batterHP has started taking orders for the extended 6 cell battery for the HP Mini 1000. This battery should fit the HP Mini 1000 with Windows XP, the HP Mini Mi Edition (with Linux) or the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition, although you might want to paint it red if you don’t want it to stick out like a sore thumb on the last model.

The battery is currently out of stock. But when it’s available it will sell for $119.99, or more than 1/3rd the cost of the cheapest HP Mini netbook model. The company also sells an HP Mini 3-Cell Battery for $79.99. The main differences between the two batteries are that the 6 cell battery will provide twice the run time, and it will make your netbook look a lot sillier.

I think it's a quaint, sort of retro look, but I haven't decided which looks worse, it or the HP 2140 six cell..

    This looks downright awful.

I was considering upgrading the battery, but if it looks like that, no way.

Oh come on… it doesn't look any battery or worse than that MSI Wind 6 cell…

I just ordered my Mini and I'm looking forward to the cool keyboard; it's still the best on the netbook market!

lol, Gawd, that is so not svelt, I'd buy and carry a second 3-cell before putting that oddity into my netbook. The HP Mini itself is dead sexy, what a shame.

Look, guys, if you're at Starbucks and somebody tries to turn it over and look at its underbelly, just gently slap their hand ;-) You really can't see that much of it from the top.

I think, if they'd taken a better look at the market, they would have integrated the whole 6-cell battery into the unit to start with, as was done with the Samsung LC10 and Asus 1000HA, HE, etc, instead of featuring the low weight of the the unit with only 3 cell.

But really I don't think this 6-cell looks worse than the others that were added as an afterthought, like like the Lenovo S10.
