Dell Inspiron Mini 10 available for order – over the phone

mini-10-phone

Dell isn’t expected to start taking pre-orders for the Inspiron Mini 10 through its web site until Thursday. But you can apparently order one today by picking up the phone and giving Dell a call. That’s what tle097 from the My Dell Mini Forums did, and he was able to place an order for a $449 Mini 10 with a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 CPU, 10.1 inch, 1024 x 576 pixel display, and 160GB hard drive.

As expected, the computer will ship with 1Gb of non-upgradeable RAM. And there are no GPS, TV Tuner, or high res display options yet. The computer has an estimated ship date of 3/31/09, but if you take a look at the estimated delivery date, I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that these dates are subject to change.

I want to care but the fact that you can't change the ram just kills it for me.

    no HD graphics yet?

Needed for running a external projector (in order to build and edit slide show and preview need at least 1024×768 as that is the normal projector resolution).

When will HD version start to arrive?

Then, when will these companies have battery life of 10-15 hours per charge (or better yet 20 hours per charge with a 3 cell battery)?

What is the point when you can get a better NC10 or HP 2140 for similar money?
