AT&T could stock netbooks in stores

AT&T is reportedly sending out a survey to customers that indicates the company is thinking about offering netbooks and larger notebooks at AT&T stores. Gizmodo reports that customers would be able to either purchase netbooks at (or above) retail prices. But if you sign up for a 2 year mobile broadband service contract, the prices drop as low as $99, depending on the netbook you purchase.

The company already offers netbook subsidies on some models, but you generally need to go through another retail store like Radio Shack to get those deals.

AT&T’s long term service plans start at $40 a month, but you only get 200MB of  data transfers at that price, so if you’re thinking about buying a netbook from the company, you’ll probably want to sign up for the $60/month plan which gives you a 5GB data cap.

Update: It’s official. AT&T will be selling netbooks and other connected gadgets in stores in the future.

I noticed this morning that HP already has the Mini 1000 XP at their site for 299.99, but that's without the built-in 3G module and antenna. I was surprised to see that the Mini Mi Linux was $30.00 more. (Somebody may have already mentioned this:)
