Uni-V 7 inch netbooks are slow but pretty

Uni-V netbooks

Chinese electronics maker Uni-V is looking for distributors for its line of 7 inch netbooks. The machines aren’t going to win any awards for power. They mini-laptops have 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, a 450MHz CPU, 128MB of RAM, and just 512MB of flash memory. They run Windows CE or a simple version of Linux. Each has 2 USB ports, 802.11b/g WiFi, and a handful of basic applications for viewing or editing office documents or playing media files.

But one thing that sets these Uni-V mini-notebooks apart from similar cheap netbooks is the design. No, the keyboards arn’t particularly roomy and the touchpads are small. But Uni-V was showing off a line of attractive lids for these netbooks at CES. Umm yeah, that’s about it. Pretty lids. Otherwise thse little guys look a lot like your average cheap Chinese netbook.

You can find a few more photos after the break.

It is not real clear in those pictures, but. . .
Are the touch pad buttons “L” shaped?

Might suit both the folks who like them on the sides of the
touchpad and those who like them below the touchpad.

  • Leo

Yes, the touchpad buttons are L-shaped. But they do not cover the entire length nor width, so you will likely find yourself clicking on the corners of the touchpad.

At least it shows an attempt at a “new idea” -
May not be practical, but at least somebody is trying. ;)
