Samsung showcases UMPC with VIA Nano CPU

While VIA reps were busy showing off some of the first Chinese netbooks running the VIA Nano processor at a restaurant across the street from the Las Vegas Convention Center, Samsung was apparently hiding a VIA nano-based UMPC in plain site on the floor of the Consumer Electronics Show. The Samsung Q1Ex is a 7 inch, keyboardless device with a touchscreen and a 1.2GHz VIA Nano CPU.

The UMPC supports Bluetooth, WiFi, WiMAX, and GPS. And it has a 4.5 hour battery and 1.3MB webcam. Personally I prefer a device with a good keyboard, but it’s good to know that Samsung is getting behind the Nano processor. Perhaps we’ll see it in more products later this year?
