In the UK HP are only going to sell only one model....some vivienne tam designer model (its pink ffs...how many blokes would buy a pink laptop with a flowery design on it????) with XP that costs (at todays exchange rate) a whopping $645. I hate being taken for a ride.......so after many years of HP products I have turned my back on them........................$645 sort of defeats the idea of a notebook being a cheap and cheerful device.

My nagging question: will those with XP HP 1000's be able to load this Ubuntu flavor in lieu of Windows? Or better yet, be small enough to dual boot?

I might be mistaken but on HP's configurator it's got a 1024X576 display much like the Mini 2140. Frankly for me all those little pixels count. I'd much rather pay the extra $30 odd for a better display.
