10 inch Acer Aspire One to sell for under $400

That 10 inch version of the Acer Aspire One netbook we’ve been hearing about could be inching a bit closer to reality. According to DigiTimes, the Chinese language Apply Daily is reportin that Compal Electronics will produce the computer and that Acer plans to offer the mini-laptop for around $399.

That makes the starting price a bit higher than the cost of an Acer Aspire One with an 8.9 inch display. But $399 is somewhat standard pricing for 10 inch netbooks these days. No details on what the battery capacity will be or what operating system you’ll be able to get for $399.

Acer’s new netbooks should be available next month.

Must say I always fancied an Acer Aspire, especially once the six-cell batteries arrived. The blue is gorgeous and the price was right.

Unfortunately the dodgy fans on many units prompted me towards an NC10 but if they can get that sorted you would think Acer are onto a winner.

Having said that it's a bit of a shame with many netbooks now moving towards optical drives, new processors and (hopefully soon) new chipsets that the new model is simply the same thing we've been able to get for over a year, just slightly bigger.

    Still, the blue. Yum.

Once you have a 6 cell netbook you will throw rocks at the ones with 3 cell batteries! It is so nice not having to worry about how much time you have left.

I got the oynx black one in December, with 6 cell and I've never noticed the fan at all, from what I've heard it was fixed in a BIOS update a while back.
