The ad is on radioshack.com now. It answers the "which battery" question - the three cell rather than the 6-cell that comes with the 3G-less 160 Gb version. I LIKE the big battery in my white AspireOne.

I still wonder how they handle existing AT&T customers - as an added line, I presume. I wonder if the people who work in my nearest RS can even answer the question.....

It does look better when you think of it that way.

I guess I'm really just coming to terms with the fact that it's hard for me to justify paying for any kind of unlimited (or the max allowable by the provider) data plan when I'm using my own network 95% of the time. I think what I need to do is look into the current “pay only for what you download” plans and see if I can find one that will allow me to pay an amount more in line with my actual use.

Actually, you consider that a) not having to use the PPC-phone and b) ending up with the Netbook costs you $15/month additional – over 2 years, that's $180. Plus the original $100 – the Netbook would then cost you $280. NOT a bad deal.

$60 per month is too much when you can get unlimited data downloading on a PPC- phone for $44.99. And in my case, I would be using my home network 95% of the time, but desperately want broadband the rest of the time as well.

On the up side, at least the US is finally joining the rest of the world in discovering the _really_ mobile side of netbooks.

I used to work for Radio Shack

Wireless products are its most profitable items that they sell. In fact, workers regularly got fired if they didn't sell enough cell phones. It makes sense that they would sell a netbook for $99 with a wireless contract. It's a horrible store though —– they'll push extended warranty's in your face, useless cheap overpriced accessories, and coerce you to buy other things you don't need in order to gain a higher commission

I can confirm that stock is arriving at RadioShack's around the country.

It will be a RS exclusive for the time being, comes in black.

Sim card slot is accessed behind the battery.
