I previously owned one of the 1st gen 7" Asus Eee machines, and an Acer Aspire One netbook, and I can definitely say that this is the best machine of the bunch !

I purchased the white one, since the blue one seems to be on backorder forever. The matte screen is nice and easy to read, the keyboard is AWESOME - I can touch type without any issues whatsoever. Battery life is incredible - I am easily getting 6 or 7 hours a charge, without paying attention to conserving power at all. Also, one of the things I like the most is that the balance is right - there is enough weight below the keyboard that it wants to sit like a regular notebook. On the Acer Aspire One, the screen weighs about as much as the keyboard, so it always wants to tip back... Another minor positive is that the slip case is better than the Acer Aspire one - it's sort of a fake-suede bag with a flip cover. Finally, it came with very little bloatware on it - I uninstalled the trial of McCafee and installed the free AVG antivirus software, and that's about it...

This is a very slick little machine. If you can handle the extra weight vs. the 9" models like the Acer Aspire One, this seems to be about as good as it gets !

Ordered one on ebay for $499.99. But I got a 25% cash back so that'll cut it to $375.
Was deciding between NC10 or EEE 1000HA but all reviews point toward NC10 for its amazing battery life and keyboard design. So decided to go with it.

$375 for NC10. Who could resist?

Okay, Amazon has the Acer Aspire One for $399 with a 6 cell, and the 3 cell version for $349. So it seems to me an extra 3 cells shouldn't cost more than $50. For that $50 on the Aspire One you also get a larger hard drive (160GB vs. 120GB).

So with the NC10 shipping for $488, I should think about it as costing $438? I guess that sounds fair. A little expensive maybe but fair for a 10" display right now, with a little premium on top because its got a great keyboard, great battery life, etc. As more and more netbooks compete for this space, I assume this'll fall in price at least $39, and soon...

It will be interesting to see somebody take the thing apart and figure out why the battery life is better than other netbooks (underclocking the CPU, dimmer display, better batteries, lower power hard disk, ...).

Grr! The white is available but not the blue. Yes a linux version would be nice, but I'm sure Linux can always be installed if XP is too slow. Although I'd pop in extra RAM to give it a fair chance.

I want one!...but I want it with Linux. I think I will wait to see how it does with Ubuntu netbook remix. Someone should be putting up a review in a matter of days. If it is all warm and fuzzy I will order one and warm up my USB DVD drive. :)
