Dell Inspiron Mini 9 now available with 32GB SSD

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with 32GB SSD optionWhen Dell launched the Inspiron Mini line of netbooks a few months ago, the storage capacity topped out at 16GB. But now you can buy a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with a 32GB solid state disk. It’ll cost you about $100 more than a model with a 4GB SSD, but just $25 more than the 16GB model.

The change comes just a few days after Dell started offering a wider array of colors and case designs, making the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 one of the most customizable netbooks available.

I love my Mini 9 but that Dell site is like walking into a crack store, you could lose your mind and take all the options and end up with a 900$ notebook with another 500$ in accessories.
Of course, if you have self control this wouldnt be a problem. I have yet to really use the 8gb SD cards I got.

Still, I wont bitch when 32GB become standard on netbooks as long as we get away from HD.
100bucks is not that much of a price for it to drop. By the summer the 64,80, 100GB will be introduced and 32 will be the new 8.

We need however better optimization for SSD drives.

Just purchased a mini 9 from Dells web site 11/30/08 and all they offer is a 16 GB SSD no other options available.

you have to purchase it with the linux OS to see the 32 GB option. Dell needs to come to their senses and offer it for the windows OS version!@

Yeah, that's because of Microsoft licensing. The XP Home Netbook Edition licensing is why you can only get a 16gb SSD with the Mini 9. Microsoft also limits a Mini 9 with XP to 1gb RAM. Heck, since Linux is Open Source, you can order the Ubuntu Mini 9 with a 32gb SSD hard drive and 2gb RAM. Microsoft licensing limits you to half the capacity. Bastards!
