I'm pretty sure the price will be closer to $700 USD for the Dell. The $1000 price point being reported is in Australian dollars.

This and the Dell E slim probably don't warrant coverage due to their almost-$1000 price points. It's not the screen that pushes them out of the netbook category, it's the cost.

I'm confused, is this running a "netbook" atom/945 chipset or, is this simply a centrino 2 ultraslim-ultraportable?

There's was also that n20 series lappy that was in the news a while ago that launched with the n10 and discrete 9300gs graphics. Anybody know whatever happened to that guy? No stateside launch in the cards?

Why couldn't they follow in Dell's footsteps and release a 12" netbook. I don't need extra power, but would like a bigger screen and more pixels to work with.

Something along the lines of an old thinkpad x-series would be awesome. Including the screen design so you could have an extended battery that sticks out the back instead of adding a slant to the laptop.

I'm excited to see reviews of the Dell E-slim or whatever it's called these days and hope it'll inspire other manufacturers.
