It’s not like we didn’t already know that you could run Windows 7 on a netbook. But it’s nice to see it in action. One early recipient of a pre-beta build of Windows 7 decided to load it up on an MSI Wind and shoot a video of the boot process.
The verdict? It takes about 2 minutes to boot, which is comparable to Windows Vista. And that’s about all I can say, because the whole video is just about 2.5 minutes long. You can check it out yourself after the break, but since this video probably violates whatever non-disclosure agreements this guy signed, I wouldn’t be surprised if YouTube pulls the video at some point.

Looks like Windows 7 is for the extremely paitent then. 2 minutes is horrible for boot. I’d rather use Linux.
I booted Windows 7 in 50 seconds. I boot Vista Ultimate in 40 seconds.
“It’s not like we didn’t already know that you could Windows 7 on a netbook. ”
Now we know that “you could Windows 7 on a netbook”. We just don’t know “what” yet.
2 minutes to boot? Does the Wind us an SSD? My Aspire One booted 6801 in exactly 50 seconds (1.5GB ram, 120GB hard drive).
Booted Windows XP or Windows Vista in 50 seconds? Most netbooks with SSDs or hard drives boot Windows XP in 30 to 60 seconds. But Windows Vista typically takes much longer.
