I can’t count the number of times I’ve thought to myself, “gee, wouldn’t it be nice if a company best known for making printers would release a netbook.” Of course, that’s probably because I’m not sure how you count to zero. But if you’re looking for a netbook to go with your Epson printer, it looks like the wait will soon be over. Epson has a teaser page on its Japanese website for an upcoming netbook.

At the moment, there’s no picture. While this may be intended to build intrigue, I think what it really means is that the company hasn’t finalized the case design. But we do know what will be on the insides:

  • CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom
  • Display: 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixels
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Storage: 160GB HDD
  • Operating System: Windows XP SP3
  • Connectivity: Ethernet, 802.11b/g WiFi
  • Chipset: Intel 945GSE Express

No word on price, when the netbook will be available, or what countires Epson will sell it in.

  1. This is an interesting move for Epson, they are normally associated with printing and imaging equipment, I don’t remember ever seeing an Epson laptop?

    1. I don’t speak it either, but I’ve had to translate it for my wife a few times… it is possible, but verrry slow.
