I went with the Eee 1000h because it felt way more sturdy than the other netbooks I tested and because it had the nicest battery. I can't wait for after-market batteries like this for the 1000-series. I get regularly over 4 hours of computer time in Ubuntu 8.10 - and can get probably another 2 hours if you disable the webcam and bluetooth (powertop says those are the two things that are draining the battery).

Big as it is, that battery (along with the fairly small computer, goes without saying :)) would sure come in handy at coffee shops, airport waiting lounges, etc.

However, I'm trying to hold out for a 10" screen; if not that, my current favorite is probably the Aspire One, rather than an Eee, so I hope similar batteries for other models start cropping up.

timothy
