Asus promotional video for the Eee PC S101

  • Email

Asus has added a promotional video for the Eee PC S101 to the company’s YouTube channel. The video is surprisingly subdued when you compare it with the leaked sales kit for the S101 we saw yesterday.

There’s not a whole lot of actual information in the video, but you do get to see the thinnest netbook in the Eee PC line from a couple of different angles. And in the last few seconds there’s a shot showing the S101 in three different colors.

You can check out the video after the page break. And you can read more about the Asus Eee PC S101 in the Liliputing Product Database.

I can't help wondering if the S101 promotional campaign might backfire. The “social elite” aren't going to spend a few hundred dollars on a device from a company with a name they're not even sure how to pronounce. Instead, they're going to feel a lot more comfortable putting down twice that much on the latest shiny offering from Apple or Sony.

As for the rest of us, the marketing campaign might have been hoping to put a “buy one and become one of the social elite” spin on it, but personally I feel it's coming off as “this product is too good for you” arrogant.
