how true. my sister just bought an Acer netbook and the first thing she asks me is how can she play CDs and watch DVD movies. hahaha, netbooks are cheap for a reason. and so I had to gift her with an external DVD drive for her netbook.

My 2005 Toyota Scion TC doesn't have a port for an mp3 player, and I definitely would want a cd burner to burn music to cds to play in the car.

I would love to find a netbook that has a built-in cd burner but is still reasonably-priced.

USB Burners – maybe, but the D945GCLF2 makes me want to have a SATA low profile DVD burner that needs only 5V.

Or, you can use one of those CD burners sitting in your closet/garage and use a USB enclosure. I had a USB enclosure for a hard drive and frankensteined it together with a standard IDE CD burner. It works just fine (if ugly) and didn't cost me a dime.

There are certainly ways to accomplish most of these tasks without an optical disc drive.

What were you attempting to link to right there? Sure I know of ways (most notably, ripping disks to images or files), but I'm curious what article you were trying to point to.
