Little Linux Laptop: New site dedicated to the cheapest of notebooks

  • Email

There’s a tiny little laptop that goes by many names. The 3k Razorbook 400, Trendtac 700 EPC, Elonex One T, Yinlips Micro PC, Bestlink Alpha 400 are all basically the same notebook, rebranded and sold by a variety of different companies in different parts of the world. What these laptops have in common (aside from nearly identical hardware) is the fact that they’re cheap and they typically run Linux or Windows CE.

Liliputing tipster Menno Dijk, who has been a great source of information about these laptops in the past, has decided to start a new site dedicated to them. Little Linux Laptop features software, tips, hardware specs and links related to the world’s cheapest laptop.

There’s not a ton of info yet, but there is an important software update that will help keep your laptop up to date. But stay tuned, as Menno promises to post several free games and office apps soon.

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed, follow us on Twitter, or "like" us on Facebook. Thanks for visiting!

Can anyone comment on availability (and trade dress — that is, which companies, and what do they call their version?) of this in the U.S.? It looks too small, really, esp. considering what another $100 or so dollars will get instead, but I'm curious.

    Cheers,

In the US at least 2 brand versions are available:

    http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=ALPHA-4…

    and

    http://www.3kcomputers.com/shop/index.php?act=v…

But i'm sure there's many more.

I won't deny the fact that a $100 dollars more will get you a better machine, but isn't that the case with every laptop / computer?

I've seen people running Windows CE and Debian on this little linux laptop and it's quite a powerfull thing!

How about you do some fucking googling yourself instead of crying like an AOLer?
