Eee PC 701: Good enough for Windows 3.11

  • Email

I’ve heard of people running Windows XP, Vista, Mac OS X, and every imaginable flavor of Linux on various Eee PC models. But Jair2k4 decided that rather than try to get the latest and greatest operating system up and running, it might be fun to take a little trip back in time and install DOS and Windows 3.11.

The verdict? Sure, you can run it. I’m not sure why you’d want to, but you could. You can even get the Ethernet drivers working so you can do a bit of web surfing if you don’t mind carrying an Ethernet cable around with you. So if you’ve always wondered how Internet Explorer 2.0 runs on an Eee PC, it looks like you can find out.

That is awesome. I don't have to waste any MORE of my money on M$ software. I can use the crappy old software that is so outdated I last used it when I had no pubes. I can finally get my moneys worth from M$, without wasting any more on Crappy Vista. But can i run Firefox on 3.1

Not firefox, but opera, as well as one of the netscape builds that original mozilla was built around…… for that matter, original mozilla would probably work….. I'll have to try it.

    Actually, 16-bit opera is horrible.
the _only_ browser (it even does myspace) that works resonably well
    is offbyone web browser.
