Asus launches online storage service for Eee PC customers

  • Email

Asus has officially launched its online storage and download service for Eee PC users. We first heard about the company’s plans to offer an online file storage service back in June. But now that the service is live, it appears that Asus is offering more than simply a place to backup media stored on your computer.

The Eee Storage service, available at yostore.net, has several components. First, users get 20GB of online storage capacity. Second, the service lets users drag and drop files between their local Linux or Windows desktop and the online storage space. Users can also share files online with other users or create group folders to share a group of files.

There’s also an integrated download center where you can find software and firmware updates for the Eee PC. It’s possible that Asus could eventually use the download center to sell third party software to Eee PC users.

Is this free for anyone who owns an eee? I haven’t yet purchased my own Liliputer, so free online storage is a big item in Asus’s favor.

I’m still waiting for the Dell model to come out before I make my decision. Any recent news on that (i.e. a more specific launch date)?

Does this work better than the abomination known as mobileme?

My Eee PC 1000H did not come with an activation code. WTF?

  • Apod

I just called Asus tech support and apparently the service comes with 901′s and 1000′s. So markntravis, I would call them and see if you can get a code. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it works with 900′s or 701′s.

Devo pagare per utilizzare Eee Storage?
    Answer
È possibile ottenere libero e pieno accesso ai servizi YoStore tramite un semplice processo di attivazione purché si acquisti la versione 901 di EeePC.

    — It seems like the online-store is available for customers of eeepc 901 (and probably later models). Somewhere else they say that are planning to extend the service to previous models as well (once again: right _now_ they say it is for 901 owners only).

    To Julie anne

You can wait Asus or you can try stocklii ( http://www.stocklii.com/en ). It’s working nicely and its pretty cheap. You can create unlimited users and assigning them a folder to share your data with them and maybe split the bill :P

    It worth to try it
