Amazon offering $100 Eee PC 900 rebates

Want to pick up a new Asus Eee PC, but don’t want to spend upward of $500 to get a model with a 9 inch display? If you can live without the new power saving Intel Atom CPU, Amazon’s got a deal for you. The company is offering $100 rebates on several Eee PC 900 models. This brings the price of the Eee PC 900 down to about $440 or $450 after rebate, depending on which version you buy.

The Eee PC 900 has an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 900MHz Intel Celeron CPU, and 1GB of RAM. The computer comes with either a 12GB SSD and Windows XP or a 20GB SSD and Linux. And the PC is available in black or white.

Yeah, I saw this rebate at J&R just a couple of days ago.

My guess is that the extension is to keep it competitive with the Dell model that’s being released this month. The Dell is the one I’ve been waiting for… and now that it’s August I’m anticipating it even more!

Isn’t this the same $100 MIR Asus has been offering for the 12G/20G models since July 1? It was to have ended 7/31, but has been extended through the end of August. As a manufacturer’s rebate, it’s available for 12G/20G purchases from most U.S. vendors.
