We’ve already seen a number of notebooks that bear a striking resemblance to the MSI Wind, thanks to the fact that they’re based on the same design and may be built by the same OEM. But there are two things that set the upcoming Mivvy M310 apart from the crowd:

  1. It will only be available in the Czech Republic
  2. It packs more RAM and a larger hard drive than its US, European, and South American cousins

The Mivvy M310 packs the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU that all the cool kids are using these days. It also has a 10 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, a card reader, 3 USB ports, VGA output, Ethernet, WiFi, Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics and the Intel 945GSE chipset. But while the MSI Wind comes with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive, the Mivvy M310 will have 2GB of RAM and a 120GB hard drive.

Customers will get a choice of Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows XP Home, or Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. Liliputing tipster Martin Bednarski says he hears the prices will start around $630.

The Mivvy M310 should be available in the Czech Republic in August.

  1. Out of the box with Ubuntu sounds pretty nice. They must have a different wireless card in this model, or put the squeeze on realtek for some working drivers. I wonder if it will come with a 6-cell battery?

    1. The 6-cell battery will be available as an option. As it is an OEM Version of the Wind, IMO the 6-cell battery from MSI or the Akoya will be suitable for the Mivvy too.

  2. It will not be just available in the Czech Republic but also in the Slovak Republic, because the markets are similar and have similar distribution channels.
