Asus to offer better Eee PC battery life

The Asus Eee PC lineup gets decent, if not spectacular battery life right now. Depending on which model you buy and what battery comes with it, you could see anywhere from 2 to 6 hours of battery life. But that’s not enough for some people, and DigiTimes says Asus has plans to offer new features including “whole-day” battery life.

Now, let’s be clear. That could mean any number of things. Asus might be throwing a 10400mAH battery together. Or the company could be allowing Eee PC users to underclock their units to run at 30MHz. Perhaps we’re talking about a portable battery pack accessory that you can plug into your unit when the primary battery runs dry.

Or maybe this is just a rumor or an empty promise. When Microsoft first introduce the UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) concept, we heard promises of all-day batteries. But on many UMPC models, you’ll be lucky to get 3 hours before the battery craps out on you.

Right, but that’s a third party battery. It’s not built or sold by Asus.

It is already out, a 8 cell battery for 701 and 901.
