This week’s poll results are in, and one thing is clear: The MSI Wind is sexy. I mean, not super-sexy looking in the way that the HP Mini-Note is. But throw together an Intel Atom CPU, a low price, a large screen with a decent resolution, and you’ve got one heck of an Eee PC killer. Mix in some decent reviews, the ability to overclock or underclock the PC with the push of a button, and Linux and Windows XP options, and things look even better.
Of course, MSI also missed its promised June 16 ship date. And the company decided that in order to get the Wind notebook out the door on June 27th, it would have to ship with a 3 cell battery instead of a 6 cell battery. That means the price will be a $479 instead of $499, but I’d really rather have a higher capacity battery than an extra $20 in my pocket.
What was a bit more surprising was the fact that the Dell E came in second place, while the Eee PC 901/1000/1000H series came in third. At this point, we still don’t know very much at all about the Dell E. Maybe it’s the mystery that makes it appealing.
