More Acer Aspire One details – Video

Laptop Magazine’s Joanna Stern got some one on one time with an Acer Aspire One today. In a nutshell, she says the computer is one of the most attractive low cost mini-notebooks she’s seen. But while it’s a tiny bit longer than the Eee PC 900, the keyboard is at least as cramped.

The Aspire One has a trackpad with buttons on the left and right side, much like the HP Mini-Note. And for a computer with just 512MB of RAM, the PC boots up pretty quickly, loading Linpus Linux Lite in just 28 seconds. Linpus Linux Lite is a version of Linux designed for low-cost ultraportables. It’s been available for a few months in LiveCD form, and it appears to be the default operating system for the Nohrtec Gecko. But the Acer Aspire One might be the first computer available in the US with Linpus preloaded.
