It looks like Gigabyte is getting ready to launch its first low-cost ultraportable. And the company is setting itself apart from the crowd by making its entry into the field a tablet PC. Engadget got a little hands-on time with the Gigabyte M912 this morning. And we’ll probably be seeing a lot more of the computer once Computex kicks off tomorrow.

The folks at Gigabyte have also put up an official product page, so we know the specs:
  • OS: Supports Windows XP and Linux
  • CPU: 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor
  • Display: 8.9 inch 1280 x 768 touchscreen with 180 degree rotation angle
  • Storage: 2.5 inch 120/160/250GB HDD
  • Webcam: 1.3MP
  • Keyboard: 80 keys + touchpad

There’s no official word on pricing yet or availability yet.
